Love this book!

This book is absolutely perfect for a 2-3yr old. My son loves Snow White so I bought this book and the Little Golden Book for him. I would recommend this book over the Little Golden book version because of the excellent printing quality (very colorful & sturdy board book) and the illustrations are much nicer (more illustrations of the drawfs & the prince in a white horse) and it has a sweet ending "they live happily ever after". The storyline is also more simple and easy to read. My son is very happy with this book and chooses this one over the Little Golden book. LOVE IT!!

Same as when I was a child!

I love golden books. This one in particular because it is exactly the same as the one I had as a child in the early 80's. The quality is about the same as far as I can tell. It's refreshing to see a company that can sell the same items that they sold in the 70's, 80's, 90's and beyond without "updating" them to look like all the art was done by a computer. I adore the original illustrations and the memories that they bring back. I also love the golden spine, that is also now beloved by my 3 year old daughter!

A great add to our Golden Book collection! The same great quality at the fabulous low price that you come to expect from The Little Golden Books. We have read it a few times together and we even do the voices like in the movie. All in all, a great summation of the classic Disney feature, telling the full story in a short and sweet way so as to keep all the nitty gritty details, yet not overdone to bore or overwhelm small children.
Definitely satisfied. Can't go wrong with classics.

An Absolute Triumph.

Where is Baby's Belly Button is a literary powerhouse, and a masterwork of the visual arts. In "Pale Fire", Vladimir Nabokov blurred the boundaries between art, audience, editor, and critic, weaving a supernatural web of "between the lines" storytelling that revealed a puzzle of horror, murder, and insanity between the lines of a mediocre long-form modern poem.

Karen Katz achieves a similar effect with her milestone "Where Is Baby's Belly Button?"

As with "Pale Fire", the reader is left in a state of uncertainty about what is real, what is the author's artistry, and what is the delusion/interpretation of a brilliant but mentally defective editor. As with "Pale Fire", the narrative starts out mundane, almost boring. Where are baby's eyes? Under her hat. Where is baby's mouth? Behind the cup.

Much like the fictional poet John Shade ("one oozy footstep" behind Frost...) "in the shadow of the waxwing slain", so is "baby" an elusive, ephemeral, and ultimately unknowable avatar of the reader's ultimate quest for a connection with reality. Katz, the author, takes on the role of Kinbote, asking obvious questions but coming to sometimes outlandish answers, spinning a delusional world where nothing matters except the location of baby's body parts. Like a euphoric opium nightmare, "Where is Baby's Belly Button" is a vision from a nihilistic future where nothing matters except the immediacy of bodily experience.

Bought this when my son was 18 months, he is still loving it just as much now at almost 24 months. Good size, pages are thick. He has not ripped any of the flaps off yet! Colors are bright and engaging.

An old fan

I am a big fan of this cookbook series. I picked some of them up a long, long time ago before we knew I was gluten intolerant. I found their cakes and bakes book fantastic, and I liked their quick meals book as well. I have found their recipes straightforward and simple, and delicious to boot. But this cookbook has been neat as well. So.

This book has recipes for breakfast, lunch and light bites, suppers, savoury bakes, desserts, traditional cakes and bakes, small cakes and biscuits and tray bakes. Each of the recipes has a photo, except for the variations of some of the recipes printed at the bottom of some of them. The photos are lovely. For potential bakers, the baked goods in this book use flours like rice flour, polenta, brown rice flour, gluten-free plain flour, potato flour, etc. So there is that.

Out of the desserts I have made the Lemon Cheesecake (and I did the Lemon and Raspberry Swirl version), and I also tried the chestnut and chocolate roulade - although I didn't have much success with that, and I have also adapted the Victoria Sponge cake to use the flours I had on hand, and that was an absolute success, and I have also made the Pistachio and Chocolate Chip Shortbread and the Orange and Polenta Cookies (which I made with lemon instead), as well as the pecan pies (I replaced the chickpea flour with buckwheat flour).

Pros: heaps of gluten free recipes divided into neat little sections, most (if not all) of the recipes have possible adaptations listed beneath, each recipe had a lovely little photo, and a lot of the recipes I've done have been very forgiving of alterations.

Cons: Does recommend some flours that may be hard to find for some, the book itself is quite little - or at least the copy I have is quite small.

Desperate for New Wine

David Hertzog gives excellent teaching and encouragement on how to stay filled with the "new wine of the Holy Spirit." He uses examples from scripture along with personal testimony to challenge and encourage believers to keep pressing in for God's very best to reach a lost word. The teaching blessed me in an awesome way as far as renewal and insight to Jesus' miracles and His parables on preparation for the wedding feast to come!

Not the same as the library's edition

My daughters and I love this book, but I subtracted a star because it is not quite the same story I expected. We checked it out of the library a couple times, then had to have our own edition. The story and illustrations are slightly changed. My daughters, ages 2 and 4, noticed the changes, and I think the story misses out a little.
For example, the library book starts with a bit booming sound in the jungle and all the animals are startled, but then we find out it's just the herd of the happy elephants who are laughing. The book I just bought begins saying "There was once a herd of elephants," but then it goes on to say that they were happy. Also, this edition does not have the bird who helps Elmer in covering himself with elephant-colored berries. Same story, but some very sweet details are missing.
I don't know why they've shortened the story; maybe they think children cannot stay focused for the longer version. In any case, I will be looking for an older edition, or maybe there's a current book with the same story.
Overall great book, but it has been better.

I can not understand why knowone has written a review yet. I have read three of Robin Reily's book on the LCI(G) & LCS(L)Mk3 Gunboats and all there verations.The history behind them are outstanding. This books are written with passion about the subject and knowlede second to none unless you served on the vessls yourself.

When you say a book covers A-Z about a subject this would be one of them! Read this book and enjoy it and then read the others, while there not in a series they are just great "Naval History" books.

A very good history

I was interested enough in amphibious warfare to give this a go, and I'm glad that I did. It's a well documented history of the development and use of the various classes of landing craft during the second world war. The sheer amount of detail is mind-blowing - Rielly gives individual boat numbers for what feels like every engagement that the landing craft took part in.

Individuals are named, actions are well described and the impact on the Japanese explained clearly. The book contains excerpts from the action logs which provide a raw and effective commentary.

Well researched and well written book on a little covered aspect of War in the Pacific

Plenty of maps and details. Only thing could have used some drawings of the various classes of ships covered for model buffs

I honestly believe her best book so far!!!!!!!!!

My favorite book so far! So if you think this is like wreck this journal book it isn't. This book first gives you instructions on how to get the most out if this book. you can of course put your name in it so the imaginary world of(you) in this book you are going to tell a little about yourself. I love it because it is so different from her other books this book is more about drawing and writing stories. I would recommend for 11+ I love it because it had crafts journal entries as well as drawing and coloring, and Keri smith wouldn't be Keri if she didn't have you cut something out so yes you will be cutting out things but other then that If you want this book to look nice don't worry you don't have to wreck it ;) I love to read and write so I definitely recommend to anyone who loves creative writing and anyone who really wants to do something with art as well. There are prompts such as make your own logo. It sounds boring but honestly she did a lot of different art and making each part of her book look appealing in this book not one page really looks the same. I love the size of the book it's big so you you can write a lot and draw and let the kid out once again!!!!

If you're not sure why you want this, buy it. If you're thinking "worldbuilding," think about it.

I worldbuild as a hobby. A hobby I've been doing for nearly fifteen years.

I've got three copies of this book. My first try was worldbuilding without a point, and that's not how my mind works. My second try was with a world I'd done a lot of work on already, and that's not what this book is for.

My third try was a vague concept. This book has worked beautifully for brainstorming things for it.

It's obviously made for beginners- so any beginners reading this, please try it!

You don't have to be Tolkien to make a wonderful world, and this book will give you that nudge. If you have a favorite TV show, if you have a favorite color, this book will shine a light on that and help you use it to make, as the title says, the imaginary world of you.

For more practiced worldbuilders: This is a collection of prompts, and a place to write in answers to those prompts. It feels good in my hand, and it's something I can comfortably use to spend an hour (I've timed it) flipping back and forth through pages and jotting down notes. And then it feels good in my hand when I flip through it looking for that thing-I-wrote. The index is useless for that. That's good. It makes me browse through the scattered sentence fragments, and reminds me of old ideas whenever I look through it.

But going back to beginners:

I'm the creative type. There's someone I know who says "I couldn't," about creativity. This is the book I want to shove down her throat while screaming "yes you could, just look here!"

Just look here.

Just take this book, a pen, and go in and do everything wrong. It'll end up good.

Got this for my god daughters 11th birthday and she loves it. Its more writing than drawing but a lot of activities to keep anyone busy and opent he mind to the world of writing. I love it as does she.
