Stunning 5 star book that will leave you on the edge of your seat!

I'm struggling right now to come up with the most perfect word for this phenomenal book. This is definitely one of the few books where my mind has just been blown away. Bam-wham- gabush. It took my breath away! I am truly stunned by the greatness that is Michelle Horst! Those familiar with Michelle's work will be shocked at just how dark and dangerous this book really is. But even in the darkest parts of this book you find one of the most heart warming love stories I've seen written in a long time!

After Dark Boundaries, the story of the Macht family continues. Noah and Amy grew up as cousins. He's adopted. She's born into the family and she never lets him forget that. As they get older, their feud escalates. But after things said among friends gets taken in the wrong way, their lives unravel quicker than anyone could imagine.

Thrust into chaos, Amy and Noah must learn to survive tragedy, grow in their newfound love and respect for one another and overcome obstacles fate seems determined to throw in their way.

Read this book! It's a dark and twisted beautiful piece of literature you will not be able to put down and will leave you craving more Michelle. I'm a Michelle Horst addict and soon, you will be too!

Flipping Heck!

What a rollercoaster ride this is. Not what I was expecting..Thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the storyline. This book follows on from Dark Boundaries and has all the same characters plus more. Love following Amy and Noah, love that they have a volatile love hate relationship. I was shocked at the violent turn of events that drew them apart, then together, then apart again.. Didn't see THAT coming! Just when you think things are starting to come together.....BAM, didn't see THAT coming either! It was a rollercoaster of suspense, love and drama that I thoroughly enjoyed. It has however left a few questions that I'm desperate to get answered. Book 3 is on its way......can't wait.

You hate her.
You hate being in the same room as you.
She's annoying.
You hate looking after her.
But you always do what your Mum and Dad tell you.
But you don't have to like it.
And you don't.
She gets under your skin.
And she's so cruel, so terribly cruel, always reminding you that you will never be really family.
Your parents will never really be your parents.
You will never really belong.
You don't care that she is only eight years old.
You despise her.

She's your cousin Amy.

You have always known that you were adopted, but Amy always reminding you of that fact since you were a little boy stays with you. It eats you from the inside out. You have nothing but pure hate for her, and now in adulthood, you will always make sure that you get under her skin and pay her back for all the hurt she caused you all those years a go.

But what happens when it all goes wrong?
What happens when Amy is threatened and you don't believe a word she says?
What happens when you take her words and throw them back at her because you want her to hurt?

Amy is taken.
Kidnapped.
Held against her will.
Not knowing if she will survive her capture or not all Amy can do is pray that she will survive this?
All she can hope for is that Noah will believe her and save her.

Will Amy be saved?
Will Noah realise that Amy was telling the truth?
Will Noah ever get the chance to tell Amy his sorry?
Or will Noah be too late?

You will just have to read this amazing novella to find out.

Like Dark Boundaries, we absolutely loved this novella. It's tells the story of Kristine and Garrett's daughter Amy and Justin and Riz's son Noah that we meet in the first novel. We get to see the old characters from the first novel, but primarily this novel is about both Amy and Noah. It's about their hatred for each other, and what consequences lay ahead of them both when blinded by hate and desire for payback. It's about their trust and desire and need for each other when the hatred blinkers are taken off. It's about love finding it's way in the unlikeness of places.

Again it's dark, griity and at times highly confronting emotionally, but well worth the read.

Michelle Horst has yet again produced another spectacular read with Cruel Boundaries that will eave you wanting more. And we definitely want more.

A definite 5 star read.

Cute Book to Match the Fun Song

Five Little Speckled Frogs is one of the stories on the ABC Jesus Loves Me 2 Year Curriculum's Book of the Week list. My kiddos love to sing the song.

There are several versions available but my kids and I enjoyed Nikki Smith's illustrations. The song is divided up to match the pictures. Even though they know the story and the illustrations were predictable, the kids wants to turn the page and see what came next. They loved the picture of the frog flying through the air each time.

Five Little Speckled Frogs

Whenever I hear the song Five Little Speckled Frogs I immediately go back to when I was a kid and my Daddy would play it on his guitar and I would sing along. When I saw that Nikki had illustrated the song in a book, my hand shot up and hollered ME, ME.. I would love to review it! Yes I have some personal attachment to the song �

Nikki took a simple kids song and created a splashing good time! Her illustrations are simple, yet fun. The frogs on the page pop out at you as in a collage scene. I loved their long pink tongues when they were catching bugs. The only thing I wish was that Nikki would have made a different drawing each time a frog jumped into the pool (where it was nice and cool !) rather than reusing the same one each time. I think it would have been more creative to add them jumping in differently.

I just love sitting and singing the song with my little ones and showing them the book as I showcase this great song for a new generation!

Tim Gilmore spent countless hours at the Jacksonville Historical Society researching Virginia’s handwritten, “often inaccurate notes” about Jacksonville. These notes were found in binders covering 8,558 pages tucked away in dusty shelves. Virginia’s book titled, Interesting Facts about Leading People and Families of Duval County: Also, Where Progress Has Changed a Lot of Homes and Buildings, was originally published in 1968. However she continued to publish longer and longer editions up to 1977.

Gilmore examined numerous, blurry and fading photos of buildings and residences taken by Virginia with her Brownie camera throughout the years. Many of these photos along with her handwritten, very specific notations on each picture, are found throughout The Mad Atlas of Virginia King.

There are several hand-drawn maps and drawings of residences by Kiley Secrest illustrating where Virginia King lived from 1915 to 2001.

When I started reading The Mad Atlas of Virginia King, it felt like a daunting task trying to follow the author’s factual documentation of Virginia’s different addresses and residential dates. Being new to Jacksonville, it was difficult to visualize the multiple locations listed. But soon Gilmore’s descriptions began to take form. Virginia was a little girl. She had seizures. She was and “odd child, and an old child too.”

And suddenly, it’s the 1920’s and the little girl Virginia vanishes from the pages. Gilmore’s stream of consciousness rudely interrupts. He’s buying wine at a local package store. But the interruption doesn’t last and Gilmore returns back in time. It is now the 1960’s and I get a glimpse of Virginia’s apartment. It’s 1974 and Virginia moves again. However, the author’s jarring presence is back. It’s 1992. Gilmore is at a party at the very apartment Virginia once lived. Rats are fed to pythons. And then it’s 2015 again. There’s an old man with a filthy beard spewing profanities from a porch.

Before I even realize it, I was hooked. I didn’t see it coming: Virginia, Jacksonville, Gilmore were all connected. They were one. There was a pattern. Although a very convoluted pattern, I enjoyed the ride. Page after page, photo after photo, Gilmore brought to life the eccentric Riverside character children laughed at, adults shunned, and very few people loved. Gilmore masterfully followed her obsessive footsteps as she wandered the city on foot year after year. Walking. Documenting. Photographing. And desperately longing to keep her past intact.

If not for Tim Gilmore’s dedication, Virginia King’s legacy, like the beautiful, decrepit buildings she could not save, would be lost forever. But with each sentence, Gilmore rebuilt, reconstructed, and resurrected the unloved and unlovable Virginia King. By touching “the same page Virginia touched...these two people so unlikely to have met” became one. Although, “she’s gone...and only the city remains”, Virginia King—“a prophet that saved the city”—lives eternally.

Don't bother

This booklet contains only very basic building instructions. The part about stringing the lyre isn't clear either. it mentions stringing from right to left but does not say whether it means as you're looking at it or from the right side as you are holding it. The playing directions and songs aren't great either. Do an online search for "Anglo Saxon Lyre" and you will find much better plans and instructions (free and paid). This booklet was of no use at all.

NOT FOR ALL LYRES!

My biggest complaint for this is that it doesn't clarify it is for a 6-STRING Anglo Saxon Lyre. I was looking for more info and songs to play with a 4-string lyre which is also called the Anglo Saxon or Sutton Hoo Lyre. A total waste of money for me. Like the others who made comments, there is a great deal of information available online for free that is much clearer and much more detailed than the info in the book.

Not a very helpful book, too simplistic, doesn't really get into much of the theory behind it. You're pretty much better off just reading up about lyres online.

This book explains why one year may be fantastic and the next filled with problems and heartache; why I have a lot of energy and determination on one day and then a few days later I feel like a balloon that's been punctured! I guess cycles apply to everything else--wind, waves, sun, planets, migrations--why can't they apply to human mind? The writer has done a very thorough investigation into cycles applied to human mind and life, and his understanding is very helpful and encouraging--provides hope!

Borja Vilaseca naci� en Barcelona el 4 de febrero de 1981. Est� casado y es padre de una ni�a. Como periodista colabor� durante seis a�os en el suplemento econ�mico Negocios, de El Pa�s, y actualmente publica de forma regular en El Pa�s Semanal (EPS). Desde 2009 dirige el M�ster en Desarrollo Personal y Liderazgo de la Facultad de Econom�a de la Universidad de Barcelona. En 2010 fund� la consultora de aprendizaje organizacional Koerentia. Tambi�n es el director de La Akademia, un proyecto de educaci�n emocional y financiera que desde 2011 promueve de forma gratuita el autoconocimiento entre los j�venes. Como escritor ha publicado Encantado de conocerme (Plataforma, 2008), El Principito se pone la corbata (Temas de Hoy, 2010, traducido a seis idiomas) y El sinsentido com�n (Temas de Hoy, 2011). About the Author

David More is a leading botanical illustrator who has previously illustrated guides on European and North American trees. John White had a long career in the research division of the Forestry Commission before retiring in 1996. He has contributed to many publications on the subject of northern hemisphere trees.

Beautiful book, very informative, enjoyable to read; hardiness ratings are dubious

I really enjoyed reading the book and examining the illustrations. It wasn't clear to me prior to purchase that the illustrations are not photographs, but after reading this book, I rather like the illustrations, as they capture the salient features of the tree bark and leaves in ways photographs might not. The range and anatomy of each tree is methodically described, and many cultivars of each species are described as well, which was a pleasant aspect. This book provides some horticultural advice, which is my principal interest, but no more than you could find with a Google search. For example, there is no information on transplant ease, seed stratification/scarification techniques, or major pests (other than mention of chestnut blight or dutch elm disease). I also found the hardiness ratings difficult to follow, since they are in percentage rather than zone, and furthermore I found some of those hardiness ratings just plain wrong, which was surprising for this second edition printing. For example: Bur Oak and Chinkapin Oak are listed as having "50% hardiness", which translates to -4F according to the table on P18; however, I've had both trees in my yard for years in USDA zone 4b, with regular -25F winter lows resulting in no injury. In fact, Bur Oak is typically rated to zone 3 (-40F). There were several other such examples, all of which served to make me doubt the hardiness accuracy for species I knew nothing about yet was interested in trying in my zone 4b location, such as some of the eastern European oaks. eg. Hungarian Oak was also rated at 50% hardiness (like Bur Oak), but turns out to be hardy only to zone 5 (-20F). Despite the hardiness, I still really enjoyed this book, and regard it as one of the best tree guides of worldwide scope that I've come across.

Simply Serene...Simply Wonderful!

I'm a huge fan of Thomas Pheasant - both the work and the man. I buy lots of design books, and usually after a quick flip through, they go on the bookshelf to look pretty and collect dust with the rest. This one...this one stays on my desk as I pour over the pages and find inspiration in each image. I keep finding myself saying "oh...look at that!", "look at that!". His work is the embodiment of elegance.

You can't help but be inspired by this book!

Buy what you love

In this hectic life it is inspiring to read and look at this book. You can feel the beauty and peacefulness that can be brought to any home. While the photographs (some by Pheasant himself) are helpful his actual descriptions of his process in how he thinks and views a space is what is most instructive. Simply serene is how we want our home, our sanctuary to be and Pheasant helps us make it so.

Practice to Deceive is my first full-blown novel, but the culmination of many years of writing in the mask fiction 'subgenre'. Started in 1999 as a simple, erotic short, the story expanded over time until eventually, as all good books should, it took on a life of its own.
I sincerely hope the book is exciting and arousing - that's the main purpose of erotica, after all - but also a good read, with the odd twist, good dialogue, and believable characters. I work hard and take my writing seriously, and hope you see the results in the book.
And yes, a sequel is underway!

About the Author
Ghostly Writer is the pseudonym for a British born writer of 'mask fiction'. Mask fiction, as the name implies, revolves around masks which usually allow the main character(s) to disguise themselves as other people. Inspired by classic espionage TV, film and comic books, mask fiction stories usually involve themes of deception, impersonation and gender identity.

A well-orchestrated charade.

You know a book is good when you finish reading it not only in one sitting, but after you finish it you decide to read it a second time; to enjoy the subtleties and small details you might have missed the first time around.

This book has just the right elements: A story that is fresh, and sometimes rather daring, clear, and enjoyable, character development, and some plot twists at just the right places. The story has good pacing, and you never feel a particular scenario is dragging on. Vivid, descriptive, and deliciously crafted scenarios keep you on the edge of your seat, as you read on to see what happens next. The main character undergoes a journey of self-discovery as he poses as his mother and proceeds to deceive his neighbors.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book. For anybody who not only enjoys masking stories, but also well-crafted erotic literature.

This is the rare erotic masking fetish novel!

This is a very hot and sexy novel! This novel/story will turn on many fantasy of those who love masking fiction. Ghostly Writer know what we want and love in masking fetish, the aspect of masking by putting on piece by piece of disguise and pretending to be another person, control other person every action and the hot scene of the main character fool every one and conversation with his 'mother' while impersonate her is really great.

This novel have many possibility, so it need more sequel, with more characters who love disguise, more impersonation, more switch and gender bending, more hi-tech disguise, this novel need more kinky! let the reader guess who is who in next part!

Beautifully crafted masking fiction

Having read masking fiction for close to 8 years, this novel was the first one that I had ever paid to read. It does not disappoint! Having read the short story 'Housesitting' several years ago, which was expanded into this novel, I had been prepared for some of the masking scenes already. Thus I did not know how the rest of the novel would hold up, and was hesitant at first to purchase it. Luckily for me, and you, Ghostly constructed the entire novel with the same beautifully crafted masking and unmasking scenes that were so elegantly portrayed in 'Housesitting.' I highly recommend this novel to any fan of masking fiction.
