The process technology at present scales around 50 nano-meters and the density of DRAMs is in the vicinity of 10 Gb per centimeter square. Such miniaturization has created the new reliability threats to the memory designers. The techniques presented in this book can help the designers to improve the reliability of memories by correcting single & multiple bit errors. The techniques make use of hardware and/or information redundancies. Although this may increase the cost of such systems, but provides improved reliability.

About the Author
Dr. Mukati has obtained his BE, MS(Boston Univ. USA) & PhD in 1981, 1989 & 2007 respectively. He has spent 31 years in R&D & Teaching activities. Currently he is a Prof. & Dean at Bahria Univ. Pakistan. His PhD research work was evaluated at Univ. of Southampton UK & Nanyang Tech. Univ. Singapore. This book is the outcome of that research.

The book explains from fundamentals to advanced techniques about memory faults and errors. Various redundancy methods have been discussed. The techniques related to Information Redundancy, i.e. Error Control Coding has been described in detail. Four different techniques have been presented in the book about memory error corrections.

The book contains an in-depth research on how to make memories to sustain faults by not producing any error while being used in the design of a critical system. I think, this will greatly help the memory designers.
